COVID-19 Virus “Coronavirus” Outbreak

Dear colleagues,

We are getting a lot of questions on the possible implications of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) on the 2020 UN Inter-Agency Games scheduled to be held in Copenhagen in June. The organizing committee is in the process of consulting all relevant stakeholders to make an informed decision on one of several scenarios. At this juncture, we recommend that you take all necessary precautions and make sure to book airfare and/or hotels with a cancellation option. We will be posting updates here at regular intervals. Please stay tuned.

  1. Dear Colleagues
Despite the spread of the Corona virus in several host countries, the European football Association (UEFA) does not see any consequences for the European Championship in summer. As you may know, one of the host countries is Copenhagen! They are in contact with the authorities and bounded by instructions from the local authorities. Therefore, I believe, we should also know soon, if the Danish Authorities make the decision to host our games this year or not!
Thank you and see you soon!

    • Hi,
In view of the anticipated cancellation/postponement of the Euro football series what is the latest brief for a possible similar action for the IAG2020.

  2. Some of us have already booked the non-refundable hotel rooms using your links. Are you going to negotiate back with the hotels to reimburse us?

As for flights booked, that I’m willing to cover the costs but hotel stay was a bit expensive to just forget about it.

    Thank you for considering.

  3. Dear Steven,
To follow what Silvana is saying surely the Organizors have also taken out insurance so our deposits will be refunded.

Anyway, helpfully none of this will be nessacery.

  4. Thanks Steven

We’ve already advised our participants to make necessary arrangements re-cancellation – though it’s already too late for some – but one question we have for the Committee, while they work on their scenarios, is whether participants fees will be returned, in full, in the event of the Games being cancelled after we have sent our payment.

We know, having organised, that there are, or may be, up-front payments by the organisers when booking venues etc. and, therefore, we wouldn’t like to see anyone out of pocket should there be a cancellation.

Hopefully, all will be well and these questions remain as questions and there will be no need to cancel anything!
    Best
    Silvana
