The IAG Committee 2020 will be speaking with hotels to determine the possibility for a full refund, in the event that the IAG is canceled due to the virus.
Regarding staff who have already booked flights and are not able to obtain a refund, unfortunately, we cannot provide any refunds for this situation due to the fact that, if the event is canceled, that is beyond our control. At this point, we recommend that you take all necessary precautions and make sure to book airfare and/or hotels with a cancellation option, and/or travel insurance.
Focal Points have not been instructed to transfer any payments as yet, therefore, up to this point, they will be able to refund the fee in full, if necessary. The Committee is recommending not to collect any money at this point, and we will issue instructions shortly on how to collect payments. The Committee is working on a new individual way to make payments directly from participants (Individuals will pay directly with a bank transfer or credit card), that will alleviate the work of Focal Points. However, that payment method has not yet been finalized.
The Organizing Committee is in the process of consulting all relevant stakeholders to make an informed decision on one of several scenarios. We will be posting updates here at regular intervals. Please stay tuned.
