Cancellation of the 47th UN Inter-Agency Games, Copenhagen, Denmark, 3 to 7 June 2020

Dear colleagues,

The global pandemic, caused by COVID-19, has presented the International Community with copious challenges. These challenges extended to the organizers of the 2020 UN Inter-Agency Games as well as its governing bodies. Today, 16 March 2020, a final decision was reached to cancel the 2020 UN Inter-Agency Games, which were scheduled to be held from 3 to 7 June 2020 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

This decision was taken with the health and well-being of staff, retirees, supporters as well as their families and friends in mind. It falls in line with the provisions implemented by the hosting country to safeguard its citizens as well as the current best international practices.

The Organizing Committee is looking into the possibility of hotel reimbursements for those already having purchased their accommodation. The 2020 Organizing Committee will continue to send out information as it becomes available. Specific questions can still be reverted to iag2020 [at] un [dot] org.

For those who obtained a visa to travel to Denmark for the specific dates, please be advised that it is no longer valid and will not be accepted. Reimbursements for the Visa fees are possible from the Danish authorities.

Please take care of yourselves and your families. We wish each of you well and hope to see you at the next UNIAG Inter-Agency Games!

  1. Hi,

Contacted the hotel and they told me they do not give ´´free cancellation’´. $800 USD down the drain. She said that the UN postponed the games. Not good enough of a reason to give me a refund. Can you help me? Thank you.

    Best regards,

    Gina
