Golf Tournament Info

We are happy to share some more info on the location and equipment options for the upcoming Inter-Agency Games Golf Tournament at the Dolce CampoReal Lisbon.

  • All golfers will stay at the golf hotel. Those who decide otherwise they might pay additional fees to enter the golf club
  • The golf package is 60 euros more expensive. The package includes the practice round (Tuesday) and two competition days (Wednesday and Thursday). Players will be expected to pay this fee at the club. Golfers must contact the hotel to reserve the practice round on Tuesday
  • Transportation is available to and from the golf hotel for the opening ceremony and closing ceremony.
  • The Hotel and golf course is a joint resort called the Dolce CampoReal Lisbon as highlighted on our hotels page. Dolce is a subsidiary of the Wyndham Hotel Group (in case you are part of the Wyndham rewards membership programme).
  • Info on the hotel can be found on the official website: https://www.dolcecamporeal.com/
  • The reception can contacted by phone under +351 261 960 900 – they speak excellent English
  • Equipment can be rented from the Golf resort but they anticipate a busy week during the Games therefore they recommend booking as early as possible. These are the prices:
Club Set: 40€ per 18 holes
Electric trolley: 17€ per 18 holes
Push trolley: 5€ per 18 holes
                                    Cart: 40€ per 18 holes

Alternatively the Course recommends renting clubs with their partners https://www.mycaddymaster.com/en/ . They have a desk at Lisbon Airport at which booked equipment can be picked up and rented on a daily basis. They have very good prices and given that transportation by bus is included in the participation package, it is a very feasible option. The clubs can be returned again at the airport.
  • Contacting the Course: Inquiries and bookings can be made with Rodrigo at camporeal [dot] golf [at] dolce [dot] com . The MyCaddyMaster rentals will have to do by yourself but the website and process is very intuitive and simple.
  • All golfers must provide a valid handicap certificate. You will have get this from your home club or through your membership with a Golf Association.

  1. Dear Steve:

I am registered participant for Golf from MINUSMA. I am yet to be allotted into any of the teams. Nor am I been confirmed on my hotel bookings, though I have payed for the whole package in full for both my wife and me for the stay from 29 Apr to 05 May 2019.

I am awaiting a contact from the focal point for golf on these matters.

Could you please confirm on my team allotment and also on the confirmed bookings at the golf resort for both my wife and me.

    Thanks

  2. I had wanted to stay at the golf hotel but it was already fully booked out. I would be interested to know if on the two competition days transport will be provided from Lisbon to the golf course and back to town?

  4. Hi William,

Could you please check with the organizer whether there is a transport organized for golfers who opted for the non-hotel package during 1 to 3 May? The announcement which requests golfers to stay in the the Dolce CampoReal Lisbon was published 1 week after the non-hotel option was introduced and I booked a hotel in the Lisbon center. The non-hotel option also states that “During the competition period (1 April to 3 May), transport facilities will be provided from specific pick-up points to the sports venues and back again”

    Thank you,
    Daihei

    • Thanks for your message. The question of transport is also relevant for people in the golf hotel to reach the center of Lisbon for other disciplines. Hope someone will respond positively soon.

  7. Steven, can we instead of physically getting a paper from the club with our handicaps, simplify the procedure and provide a link to our Club page or Masterscoreboard where our scores and all our valid handicap records are located. Being based in Africa, we regrettably don’t have the ability to electronically print it. That would be a great help. Thanks in advance.

  8. I agree with the suggestion from Remzi that we move the competition days to Thursday and Friday and have the practice on Wednesday. I was not aware that the golf started on the Tuesday, so I booked based on the information sent by the organisers, ie that the 30 April is the day of arrival and the Opening Ceremony.

  9. Any chance to change the competition days to Thu and Fri so that we have the practice round on Wed. Some participants including myself are arriving only Tue during the day or evening.

    • Unfortunately the Control Commission already meets Friday lunchtime to validate the tournament results and to prepare the trophies and medals. As the Golf tournament could potentially last until late in the afternoon it cannot be conducted on the Friday. Hope this clarifies, best regards

  11. In the meantime the golf club is aware about the package deal and competitiion days!
We are instruccted to pay the 60 euros to the IAG account and NOT to the Club (as posted above)…

  12. Please advise on cost and how to book extra nights at the hotel. Those of us travelling from Africa will arrive on Monday in order to play a practice round on Tuesday. So one night before the official stay and perhaps some nights after may be required. Looking forward to reuniting and to the competition.

Also, please be in touch directly by email (hercules3 at un.org) if you wish to play West Cliffs and Oitavos Dunes on Friday 3 and Saturday 4 May, the number one and two courses in Portugal, respectively.

Many thanks indeed. Yours in golf,

  13. Fully support the proposal for doing a practice round on Wednesday, followed by competitions on Thursday and Friday. As mentioned by others, most of us will arrive on Tuesday afternoon, so won’t have time for a practice round, considering also the time required for transfer from the Golf Hotel to the registration and opening ceremony – presumably in Lisbon – the same evening.

  14. Most of participants will be arriving late afternoon on Tuesday 30 April so there is no time left to do the practice round. As mentioned above by some participants, we need to register and guess it will be in Lisbon and attend the opening ceremony?
It would be ideal if participants do practice round on Wednesday and competitions on Thursday and Friday.

  15. Hi Alberto, I responded to you yesterday that I found another team but had not realized that my colleague from Bonn , Taimur was already part of your team. If you haven’t filled the slot yet, I would like to join your team so that both of us from Bonn are in one team. Kindly confirm so that I can cancel with the other team. Thanks.

  16. Since participants are arriving on Tuesday 30 April there is no time left to do the practice round. On top of that participants are requires to do formalities, registrations and also opening that day. Would it not make more sense to do practice on Wednesday and conpetitions on Thursday amd Friday?

  17. “The golf package is 60 euros more expensive.” Since this additional fee is compulsory and intended for the practice round, can this be moved for Friday? Most of us will not be able to have a practice round because most of us are arriving on Tuesday and this will be hectic day considering the distance of the venue and the registration and the opening ceremony …..

  19. Hi Steven. I’m a staff member in UN Bonn. Don’t have a team but would like to join any team with a slot. I play off handicap 14, have a membership card for 2019 that confirms the handicap, do I still need a certificate?
